STAYTON, Ore. — The McLoughlin boys soccer team won back-to-back shutouts on the road Friday in Dayton and Saturday in Stayton.

On Friday, seven different Pioneers scored. Sergio Alvarez, Alex Saldana, Alberto Herrera, Eduadaro Corona and Luis Saldana all had single goal. Gerardo and Javier Robles also each added a goal.
Jorge Perez and Neftaly Cazarez both contribued two assists in the win. Alex Saldana also had an assist.
“The guys were running all over the place against Dayton and they played hard,” Mac-Hi coach Jose Garcia said. “That really contributed to the results.”
Mac-Hi keeper Christian Ceja had six saves.
On Saturday, the Pioneers, ranked No. 6 in the OSAA’s RPI rankings, won a nail-biter against No. 9 Stayton.
“Stayton handled the ball well,” Garcia said. “They like to play wide to their fast wings and make crosses. Luckily, the guys were able to recognize this right away and were able to handle it. We were good defenders and got the one goal to get the win.”
Alex Saldana scored the solitary goal to pull out the win for Mac-Hi.
“It was a tough two days on the road,” Garcia said. “But the boys handled it well and I’m proud of them.”
