SPOKANE — A little revenge was on the minds of the Waitsburg-Prescott soccer team here Saturday, as W-P beat Northwest Christian, 5-1.

NWC knocked W-P out of the playoffs last season.

“We don’t get many victories on the road in Spokane,” W-P assistant coach Jay Potts said, “but today was a big win for us. They were no pushovers and it was a good road win.”

Ernesto Valvinos scored in the 19th minute, assisted by Enrique Valderas.

Valvinos scored in the 41st and 49th minutes as well. He was assisted by Rodrigo Gonzales and Ivan Figueroa.

Figueroa found the back of the net in the 55th minute assisted by Valvinos and Gonzales assisted by Figueroa in the 74th.

W-P freshman goalkeeper Christian Caro made 11 saves in the game.

“Our keeper played tremendous and has been getting better all year,” Potts said. “He is getting more and more confidence as the year goes.”

W-P (2-1) plays its first league game Monday at home against Walla Walla Valley Academy at 4 p.m.
