EDMONDS, Wash. — Delaney Romero’s hat trick led Walla Walla Community College to a 6-0 win over Edmonds here Saturday in NWAACC women’s soccer action.
Romero, on an assist from Marais Hicks, got the Warrior scoring started with a goal in the 12th minute. Romero wasn’t finished as she added two more before intermission. Romero found the back of the net in the 20th and 24th minute as the Warriors went to the half with a 3-0 lead.
Mackena Carkner got the second half scoring going with a Warrior goal in the 51st minute.
Oryian Matheny added another in the 75th minute and Olivia Rodgers capped the Warrior effort with a sixth goal in the 85th minute.
The Warriors, with a 6-0 win over Skagit Valley on Friday, completed a two-day west coast trip without being scored upon and holding a combined 12-0 advantage on Edmonds and Skagit Valley. Aiko Johnson, in goal for the Warriors, had three saves as she recorded her second consecutive shut out.
On Friday at Skagit Valley, Julie Belden got the Warriors on the board first in the 21st minute.
Rodgers made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute and Shauntice Perrigo sent Walla Walla to intermission with a 3-0 lead in the 42nd minute.
Things got no easier for Skagit Valley in the second half. Lexi Miller found the back of the net in the 61st minute and Romero quickly followed in the 63rd minute to put Walla Walla up 5-0.
Former DeSales student and Wa-Hi soccer graduate Brigit Lyons finished the day with a goal in the 78th minute for the 6-0 Warrior win.
The defense was dominant as Johnson, in goal for the Warriors, only made one save in recording the shut out.
Walla Walla improves to 6-1-1 after the weekend and travels to Ontario to battle Treasure Valley Wednesday.
