KENNEWICK — The Walla Walla High School baseball team scored a sweep over Kamiakin, 8-4 and 11-3, on Friday.

The Wa-Hi pitchers surrendered just six hits combined over the two games, as shortstop Spencer Locati did the heavy lifting on the offensive side with 6 RBIs combined.

“We feel very fortunate to play on the road at Kamiakin and sweep a well coached Braves team,” Wa-Hi coach Keith Gradwohl said. “We continue to capitalize on walks and errors and come up with big hits to score runs in bunches. Locati had an outstanding day with 6 RBI’s and stellar defense at shortstop. All of our kids are playing hard.”

Wa-Hi (11-1 overall, 6-0 in Mid Columbia Conference) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the third inning in the opener, as starting pitcher Ryan Kimball knocked a two-run single and David Pontarolo added a two-run double.

From there, Kimball tossed six innings of three-run ball and Kyle Barker closed out the Braves in the seventh.

In the night cap, Locati finished 3-of-4 with two doubles and five RBIs and pitcher Zach Zehner picked up his fifth win of the year.

The Blue Devils face Richland on the road on Tuesday.
