Dorothy Werttemberger, 55, of Walla Walla, has a rare sarcoma cancer in stage 4.
She has battled the illness since November 2012. After two surgeries to remove a section of her lung, she got an awful infection that almost took her life, wrote friend Debra Stone.
Radiation and for four months in remission followed. But the cancer moved into her spleen and in January progressed into her blood.
She has been given nine-18 months to live, Debra said. As of mid-February, she has been on palliative care.
Friends and family, including daughter Becca Cook of Walla Walla, are seeking financial contributions for a treatment she needs to start immediately but isn’t covered by insurance.
So far, $2,700 has been raised toward Dorothy’s goal of $5,000. Contributions may be made to the Rebecca Cook for Dorothy Werttemberger Fund at Baker Boyer Bank.
