MILTON-FREEWATER — The McLoughlin High School girls basketball team rolled to a second consecutive win here Friday, 39-32, over the Cove Leopards.

The Pioneers used a team effort — with eight girls registering a bucket. Mackenzie Fite led the team in scoring with nine points and Makia Carlson added seven.

Top scorer for the Leopards was Kayla Johnson with 10.

Mac-Hi coach Todd Cunnington was pleased with the win but still expects more from his team moving forward.

“We struggled to really get out offense going by making mental mistakes that definitely have to be cleaned up,” he said. “I’m proud of how everyone on the team worked, but we made the game a lot more difficult than we needed to.”
