Eleanor L. Williams

Former area resident Eleanor L. Williams of Portland died there on Nov. 12, 2012, at the age of 93 years. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 1:30 p.m. in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery. Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St, Milton-Freewater, is in charge of arrangements. Eleanor was born Jan. 4, 1919, in Walla Walla. She was the daughter to Carl and Ida Adkins Burggraff. She attended school in Walla Walla and Umapine and later graduated from Oregon State University in 1941 with a degree in home economics.
She married Richard F. Williams in Walla Walla on Nov. 22, 1940. They lived for a time in Los Angeles before moving in 1948 to Walla Walla, where she was involved in social work. After retirement they moved to Tigard, Ore. She enjoyed weaving and belonged to the Weavers Guild while in Walla Walla. She was also a member of the Lake Grove Presbyterian Church in Lake Oswego, Ore., Meridian Park Hospital Auxiliary in Tigard, Ore., and the Summerfield Travel Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 30, 2004; and her daughter, Ida Braden, on Sept. 19, 2011. She is survived by her daughter, Coyla Williams of San Diego; niece, Marcia Schmerer of Walla Walla; nephews, Bob Burggraff of Milton-Freewater and Robert Williams of Elk Grove, Calif.
