This year's Balloon Stampede is being scaled back to focus almost solely on hot-air balloons. Will you miss having the vendors and other activities at the fairgrounds?

The Balloon Stampede began as just that in 1974. It was just about the balloons, pilots and the awe in the sky. I remember the first time my Grandpa took me out "chasing". It's something that my family still does today. We look forward to the early mornings with the colors in the sky. The vendors were introduced later in the event and I believe when it was held at Wa-Hi and Tietan Park it had a fun appeal. Later when it was moved to the Fair Grounds, it became...the Fair, in May. Way too commercialized. If the community wants to keep vendors, a car or bike show I believe they will find a way. But let's keep this event down home as it was inteded, when it began.
I am Thankful to the Boise based folks that are coming in and keeping this event local for US!!
We will continue to go to the early morning lift offs, chase and night glow.

Please to remember...yes the balloons stampeding is the point. However, if it rains or the wind blows which it has for about 11 of the last 24 years since I've lived here...therewill be nothing. At all.
