Michael Lopez is a combat veteran from the U.S. Army who after 10 years changed paths and earned his B.S. in Visual Journalism from Brooks Institute.
He has worked in many projects from music videos to being a set photographer for the movie "Without Men" with Eva Longoria in which he was an extra next to Carlos Carrasco from "Blood In and Blood Out."
Working with several locations as a freelance photographer including the LA Lightning (a professional IBBA basketball team), the Los Angeles Journal, and HBO as a assistant to Ed Mulholland, he went on to a 10 month internship with the Orange County Register before finally finding his dream job with the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin.
He was raised in a small rural town in El Centro, California and is bilingual in English and Spanish.
In his spare time, Michael likes to wrestle with his 3 year old daughter, read comic books, play video games, sky dive, paintball and run obstacle course races like the Spartan Sprint. He loves all kinds of sports and has been known to think he is an athlete.
As a child, my mother would have a plug-in angel by my bed to keep me company during the nights. It would ease my fear of the dark and was a subtle reminder that I was never alone and that no harm would come to me.
With the game on the line, and all eyes on the players, I sometimes like to turn my camera to the crowd.
